International Return Material Authorization (RMA)

Teledyne (TDY) FLIR LLC. strives to provide customers with the best possible products and support. We understand having an Imaging System down is mission critical and the return process needs to run seamlessly in order to return the goods in a timely manner.  Many FLIR products are export-controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and may have additional local country export restrictions than those discussed here.

TDY FLIR utilizes the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process to return items for repairs, upgrades, maintenance or overhaul. In order to assist with the RMA process, we have put together an explanation of what is required in order to receive the authorization quickly. In order to begin the process, the RMA Form is required to be completed by either the end user or the entity facilitating the repair. The completed form should be returned to the appropriate Service Center Customer Service Representative (CSR) Team.  The CSR Team reviews the information, creates the RMA and submits to the Global Trade Compliance (GTC) Traffic Team for review and import authorization. Almost all tangible imports (temporary or permanent) require a declaration to local customs authorities therefore it is imperative the information provided on the RMA form is true and complete.

To assist with the completion of the RMA form, here are the key points to ensure the form is completed accurately and the RMA can be approved quickly.

GTC Traffic reviews RMA request and form, verifies and approves use of the Import Authorization. If approved, the CSR will provide the RMA, return shipping instructions and a commercial invoice which for use when shipping product to TDY FLIR.  If not approved due to missing information or GTC is unable to verify the original authorization of export, TDY FLIR may be required to submit for a new Export License which can be a very lengthy process and may delay the return of the equipment. To ensure this does not occur we request all available information be provided at the time of RMA request.

We hope this information will assist in providing you with the necessary information on how to complete the RMA form and provide additional information as necessary to obtain the RMA without delay and get you back on mission. Should you have any questions regarding your RMA requests, please reach out to the appropriate Service Center for the product needing repair.
